Hotels in Florence

Hotel Fenice Palace al Duomo
Via de' Martelli, 10, 50129 Firenze, Italy
From €100 off season rising rapidly to €200 plus in high season

Handy for the Duomo and San Lorenzo, the Felice Palace is a cut above many run of the mill four stars in this central area. Stay here for good all round luxury and a prime location.

Hotel Ricasoli
Via Mantellate, 2 50129 Firenze, Italy
From €80 in off season but rising rapidly in peak season

A good solid choice in a central location with spacious rooms and access to communal gardens. Seek out low season bargains which can be as low as €80 – very competitive for a four star in Florence.

Hotel Croce di Malta
Via della Scala, 7, 50123 Florence, Italy
See website for latest rates.

This four star hotel is centrally located yet benefits from having a swimming pool, garden and a panoramic terrace. It also has plenty of airy communal space (not a common feature of even the larger Florentine hotels). Well recommended.

Hotel Berchielli
Lungarno Acciaiuoli, 14 50123 Firenze, Italy
See website for latest rates.

This hotel has many excellent facilities which includes some rooms overlooking the River Arno and the famous Ponte Vecchio. It also boasts a splendid roof terrace, in-store shops and a decent ‘American’ bar. Stay here if you want great views of the river and to be near all the major sights of the city.

Hotel San Giorgio
Via Sant'Antonino, 3 Firenze, Italy

A good quality, inexpensive family run hotel in an ideal location near Santa Maria Novella train station and within easy strolling distance of Florence’s main attractions including the Duomo and Piazza Signoria. The hotel was recently renovated and has all the usual facilities you would expect from a three star including air conditioning in all rooms, satellite TV and private en suites.

Hotel Rex
Via Faenza, 6 Firenze, Italy
From €70 per night.

Owned by the same proprietors as the San Giorgio and the Olimpic, the Rex provides a personal and warm welcome. There are many great restaurants nearby and the hotel is within easy walking distance of all the main attractions in the city.

Hotel de Lanzi
Via delle Oche, 11 50123 Firenze, Italy
From €100 per night.

A super little hotel located within a 15th century building near the Duomo. Don’t be too put off by the rather cramped entrance, the rooms in this three star have ample space and the hotel, one of Florence’s oldest, has real renaissance charm.

Hotel delle Nazioni
Via Luigi Alamanni, 15 50123 Florence, Italy
From €70 per night.

This is an ideal hotel for young travelers who are regularly seen on the eight computers with free internet access in the hotel’s lobby. There is bright interior design and a relaxed yet professional approach by owner Giancarlo Carniani.

Hotel Ariele Florence
Via Magenta 11 50123 Firenze, Italy
From €70 per night.

Very competitively priced for what you get, the Ariele is located in a quieter area than many Florentine hotels and also benefits from a pleasant garden. Near the river, it is only a 15 minute stroll along the river to the Ponte Vecchio and the heart of the old town. Really good value and recommended for both couples and families (quadruple rooms are available).

Hotel Alba Palace
Via della Scala, 22/38r 50123 Firenze, Italy
From €100 per night for a double room

This is one of the better three star hotels in Florence and as a result tends to get booked up quite quickly. The décor is pleasant and the rooms clean, soundproofed and well presented. The location is good too – right in the heart of the action of old town Florence.
