Coquinarius is one of the best places to eat in the old town area Florence which just happens to be great value for money. Add to this the friendly, laid back atmosphere and the inspired range of reasonably priced wines on offer and here is a place you’ll want to keep going back to. The main eating area is a high, bare walled, vaulted room with simple wooden tables and chairs. The emphasis is on excellent value, fresh food and wine, a combination which is not always easy to find in the tourist areas around the Duomo. The pasta dishes are perfect, the salads fresh and different, the cheese and meat platters as gloriously tasty as they are unhealthy, and the homemade ‘dolce’ sublime. It all seems so effortless and simple you wonder why more places can’t be like this?
Restaurant La Cantinetta Florence
Bottles of Chianti, red and white table cloths, candle light. No you're not in a movie, you're in one of the finest restaurants in Florence. In addition to the quaint rustic decor you have of course a selection of delicious food and wine and fresh local produce.

Trattoria del Carmine

Open Noon-2.30pm, 7.30-10.30pm Mon-Sat. Closed most of August.

One of the best Trattoria’s on the south side of the Arno and a good option after an afternoon’s sightseeing in Oltrano (Palazzo Pitti, Boboli Gardens, Santo Spirito, Santa Maria del Carmine). Like many Trattoria’s the food is nothing fancy and the décor simple and rustic. For the freshest dishes try and daily menu, or plump for Tuscan specialities such as ribollita or bistecca alla Fiorentina – both of which are excellently prepared by the chefs.

via della scala is just off Santa Maria Novella square and train station , this pizza joint Florence opened in 1991 and was an instant success with the student crowd particularly the Erasmus exchange program (i know i was one of them!!!). Still serves great pizza at very modest prices making it one of the best value for money pizza joints in Florence. |
